The Magic Millions race day is Australia’s premier thoroughbred auction house and it’s the leading source of champions and high-class performers on the race track. Our Gold Coast event photographer was on the scene to capture all the action.
More than 5500 horses pass through the auction rings all around the country each year at over 20 different sale events. These sales include yearlings, breeding stock and ‘ready-to-run’ race horses. Sales like these provide an opportunity for investors and punters to carve out a little piece of their own history in the proud racing tradition. They’re iconic, they’re Aussie and they’re oh-so-exciting to be a part of!
Flagship Events in the heart of the Gold Coast
The Magic Millions also play host to a series of carnivals and race days renowned for bringing glamour, class and excitement to the track. This was where our Gold Coast event photographer really came out to play.
The flagship event took place at The Star Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival, Sale and Race Day on Saturday the 12 th of January. The who’s who of Australian fashion and pop culture were out in force on the day as glamour and prestige took centre stage. It was certainly a case of not knowing where to look for fear of missing out! The sophistication and class of the event was set off by some incredible styling and behind the scenes touches, which our Gold Coast event photographer was clever enough to get some shots of.
There were nine races run on the day (held at the Gold Coast Turf Club) as well as the $500,000 Bonus and Harrolds Fashions on the Field event. This race day is an absolute national icon and a stalwart of the racing industry – it’s a must- attend event for everyone from frock-watchers to the most focused of punters.
Photography at a Large Scale Event
It’s important for our event photographers to be skilled and experienced when it comes to a large-scale event. There’s a lot going on – people everywhere, quickly changing fields of focus, action and movement, colour and light. It’s enough to make your heard spin but our photographers are cool and calm in the face of controlled chaos.
