To celebrate Toys ‘R’ Us invited guess to join them to an EXCLUSIVE Transformers Moonlight Mania event held at Toys”R”Us Doncaster on Saturday 14 May. Guests came dressed as their favourite Transformers character and were among the first to see the NEW Transformers product range at this EXCLUSIVE Toys”R”Us pre-release event.

We were there to capture guests and place them into Transformers virtual background using the magic of green screen photography and have them walk away with their very own photo within minutes. Allowing over 200 guests to walk away happy with their little memento.

What is Green Screen Photography?

Green Screen Photography (which can also be photographed on a blue screen) is when you photograph a subject in front of a green/blue backdrop and special software removes all the green in the photo. From there the subject can be put into any kind of background and additional affects and layers can be added to the photo in front or behind the subject. Our special software will instantaneously merge the two images together creating one unique photo as simple or as crazy as you want it to be – fantastic to keeping in your theme.

How long does it take to replace the background?

With our special software and experienced lighting technicians and photographers handling your green screen photography we’ll have your guests in, photographed and walking away smiling within minutes. The software itself will replace the background as soon as the photograph is taken – making the queue to get their photo taken the only thing that holds your guests up. But don’t worry, it’s worth the wait.

How to achieve best results in Green Screen Photography at events?

Anyone can do green screen photography. Fact. Unfortunately not everyone can do it well! There are a couple of basic ingredients to doing green screen properly. The first being getting the lighting right.

Studio Lighting

To remove the green background properly and make the photograph look realistic and not like it has obviously been cut out the lighting should be evenly lit and match the new background. When inquiring about green screen, ask your photographer about their setup – How many lights are they using? Is the photographer on the day a professional photographer who understands what is required or just a trained operator of the automated setup?

Event Photos uses a minimum of 3 light setup when possible to photograph green screen events. 2 lights are used to light the backdrop to remove any shadows from guests and a main light to light the subjects. So beware of operators only using one light – we’ve heard some horror stories and seen some of the images that look fake and unprofessional.

Special Green Screen Software

There are several green screen programs out there that can remove a green or blue background so you can create your own unique fantasy image. However, after some research, testing and investing we have found a solution that not only removes backgrounds well and quickly but also allow us to print on-site.
